Gedruckt werden nicht nur die Klassiker wie Visitenkarten und Briefpapier, auch Bücher und Plakate im Format von >A0. Dies machen die Maschinen möglich, die teilweise über 160 Jahre alt sind, und jede dieser Maschinen erzählt ihre eigene Geschichte. Die Lettertypen sind kein Museum, alle Maschinen drucken und zeigen wie schön diese Handwerk ist.
Wichtiges Material ist nicht nur Papier, – das kann auch schon mal aus Italien oder Japan kommen – das fertige Druckgut ist immer die Summe aus Papier, Farbe, Typografie, handwerklichem Können und nicht zu letzt die Sorgfalt der Ausführung die dem Druckgut ein Erlebnis von fast allen Facetten der Haptik geben.

About ‹Museum der Arbeit›

Our printshop is part of the Museum of Work in Hamburg, Germany. Our print workshop is equipped with a Heidelberg OHZ, a Heiderlberg OHT, a Linotype from 1926 and a Monotype from around 1960 – all in working condition.
We have daily demontrations on Monotype and Linotype typecasting, single type casting, wood type cutting and typesetting. We are always producing something... We also do demonstrations for schools and even birthday parties.
The workshop is run voluntarily by retired typesetters and printmakers.
